Recently awarded ‘AA Hotel of the Year 2015’, the restoration of sash windows for the main house at Cliveden has now been completed. Cliveden is an iconic 17th century stately home, and now one of the world’s finest luxury hotels.
“Project management was critical: everything was carefully coordinated to meet deadlines. During the two-year restoration, the house was only closed for three-weeks in January 2015. During those three weeks we had teams working 24/7. Scheduling was very tight.”
TRC Contracts Ltd helped with the restoration of over 300 timber windows. The sash windows were removed and repaired in our onsite workshop facilities. Also supplied were bespoke matching facsimiles to the French dining room.
We also undertook the refurbishment of over 20 timber doors including a 19th century oak framed door to the existing spa, and a number of large stable like doors around the property.
Sympathetic repairs to the existing collar joints were carried out around the windows, working closely with the Ecologist to ensure suitable gaps were left for the bats to access and egress. A special mastic sealant was used in the same colour as the windows to blend in without the need to paint.
